    Description

Very unique wartime propaganda leaflet that was MORTAR-FIRED by the German Army over Russian lines on the Eastern Front. Heat damage from the firing can be seen on edges.  Leaflet is primarily in Russian-language, with a small section in German on the back. The purpose of these leaflets was to urge Soviet soldiers to defect to the German side with the promise of good treatment. According to the text, the leaflet itself was to be used as a pass to allow for safe passage. I used Google translate scanner to roughly translate part of the Russian and German texts, which are attached with the photos. German propaganda leaflets are relatively common, however, ones that have been fired by a mortar over a war zone and survived 80 years are not.
