Fifteen letters and one empty envelope, all from the same Unteroffizier to his girl and a couple from her. A couple are from 1942, all the others are from mid-June 1944 to mid-August 1944. He apparently started off with several different infantry units judging from the postmarks but ended up at a shooting training school in 1944. Handwriting is very neat, should be easy to translate. I can read just enough of it to be dangerous. He mentions in one place a bombing attack closely missing him. There's one place where it looks like he's giving her a list of papers to get from the polizei (perhaps he or she lost all their paperwork?), he uses the word "fahnrich" a lot so perhaps he was an officer candidate, and he uses the word "kameraden" a lot in his 1944 letters, so presumably he's speaking of others at the training facility with him. If I'm understanding them correctly, there seems to be some concerns with the way the war is going - understandable to say the least at that time. Sergeants seldom ended up at training facilities unless they were no longer fit for front line service, so perhaps he was wounded - might also explain why there are no 1943 letters. Bought these off eBay Germany years ago. He was a prolific writer, most of the letters are four to seven pages long! Lots of interesting things to discover here!
