Stainless steel Garland GAS Burner Professional Range. (CIRCA 1980)
For 35 years, this stove had been in the cottage that was once the home of Robert Davis, founder of the Utopian town of Seaside, Florida.
This Garland vintage gas stove is similar to the Garland featured in the Smithsonian, “on appétit! Julia Child’s kitchen "

The Garland, six-burner, gas commercial range was first manufactured in the early 1950s--It uses natural gas. --missing one burner.

This high-quality Garland Stove is in good condition. Shows appropriate use wear, markings, there is some minor rust and distressing.

HISTORY
Garland stoves are highly respected, first gaining fame in 1893 when the “World’s Largest Stove” was introduced at the World’s Fair and later gaining recognition because Julia Child was quite fond of the stove and had one in her famous kitchen.
Julia sang the praises of her “big Garland” throughout her career, and used it until she donated it to the Smithsonian in 2001.
In 1956 Julia spotted the stove of her dreams --The stove, a Garland model 182, was a commercial gas range with six burners and a steel griddle. Julia paid Kent about 0 for it. “I loved it so much I vowed to take it to my grave!” she wrote in the memoir. The stove now occupies a special place in the “nation’s attic,” the Smithsonian.

I have owned this stove for 30 years. This particular stove resided in the Tupelo Street cottage of Robert Davis, founder off Seaside Florida.
More than thirty-five years ago on County Road 30A, Robert and Daryl Davis began building of a little town they named (the now legendary) Seaside.
The first buildings to go up were a red model house for them to show, and a yellow house built next door where they lived. The two houses were built on the town’s first street, Tupelo Street.
This Stove was the Davis’s original appliance that for three decades has been in the yellow house on Tupelo Street until it was moved to Montgomery Al
.
He cooked on it back in mid 1980’s while he was designing the first quaint Seaside streets later to become   known world -wide as   a #1 prestigious Florida Resort.
The stove is   currently connected with gas and would need to  be  disconnected  when you pick it  up.
